Jewelry Class

I am so excited I am taking a jewelry class.  This is an eight week session and we will be making a tiny brass box (about 1 inch square).  So you wonder what am I going to do with the box?  Well, it’s for decoration but my goal is  to learn techniques and how to use the tools so I can apply them to my jewelry.

On the first class we annealed the metal with a torch, pickled it to remove the fire scale(the yucky color that appears after annealing) and cut the pieces.   We also made a fixture out of a ceramic oven brick which we will use on the next class to solder the pieces together.  The instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly so I am looking forward to the next  class.  I will post pictures of my work in progress.

Shell Galaxy Pendant

This is an organic pillow bead that I made with handmade cane stringers and silvered ivory. The pendant was also glued with epoxy to the bail.

Kitty Pendant

This is a new kitty pendant. I am making beads with one hole so I can glue the bail with two part epoxy. I will be making more of these pendants and listing them on Etsy.

Riveted Ring

Here is my new creation to ring the New Year: a riveted glass flower ring! As you can see, still using my favorite colors...kind of waiting for spring to arrive soon so I had to make more flowers to forget about the cold temperatures around here.

Beaded bracelet finished!

I followed a Nancy Cain's Jeweled Links pattern from Beadwork magazine and I am very pleased with the results. Making each component was a breeze but it took me awhile to figure out how to link them together but it was totally worth it. I will be wearing this for New Year's!

Teal Necklace

Another necklace finished! I like how teal and amber complement each other.

I am now going to finish a seed bead bracelet I started during the summer but stopped when I ran out of beads. I will share it when I finish it.

Raku Necklace

This necklace was very popular and so easy to wear with jeans or anything blue or gray. The beads are made with cobalt blue base and raku frit and then encased. Love the blue/green hues.
